Replace fonts in PowerPoint not working? Use Slidewise.

If you have been trying to find where a specific font is used in a presentation, or if you desperately need to replace fonts but the Replace Fonts feature in PowerPoint is not working, then your search is over because Slidewise makes these issues a thing of the past.

Slidewise has been designed with a singular focus on making it easy to manage the fonts and media in PowerPoint.

Main advantages over the built-in Replace Fonts feature:

  1. It finds ALL instances of a font including the ones that PowerPoint misses.

  2. Jump to any individual shape using a font and see exactly where it is being used.

  3. Replace multiple fonts in one action rather than having to do them one at a time.

  4. Change specific fonts to use the Theme font.

  5. It also warns you if any fonts have been substituted.

So, how does it work? Firstly it shows you a complete list of all of the fonts used in your presentation. It will also show exactly where each of the fonts is used, and as if that wasn’t enough, with a quick double-click you can jump straight to a specific shape/font combination!

In Slidewise you can double-click a shape to jump straight to it in the presentation

Flowing the other way, you can click on a Textbox on a slide and Slidewise will show you all the fonts used in that shape, even if it’s just an empty space or line return character, which can be pretty hard to spot by eye. It also indicates if the font is specified to be used for Latin text, Asian text, complex scripts, symbols or bullets.

Calibri Light is set for latin and complex scripts, while Calibri and .AppleSystemUIFont are set for bullets.

If you need to purge a deck of some or all of the fonts then this is where Slidewise really comes into its own.

How to replace all fonts in PowerPoint at once:

  1. Open your presentation and enable the Slidewise task pane.

  2. In the Fonts title choose the Replace fonts option in the ellipsis menu.

  3. Select one or more of the existing fonts and then select the replacement font.

  4. Click the Replace font(s) button and Slidewise will resave your presentation with the selected fonts replaced.

This simple yet very powerful feature of Slidewise allows you to select one, multiple, or all fonts in the presentation and replace them with a single font. You can even replace fonts with a theme font or a double-byte font with a single-byte font which are feats PowerPoint itself cannot perform.

You can select all of the fonts and replace them with a single font, or even set it to follow the theme fonts. It will even replace a double-byte font with single-byte font, which can be a lifesaver if you find yourself in that particular dead end.
